Confirmed: Alexis Davis vs. Viviane Araujo at UFC 240

Viviane Araujo Rounding the UFC Octagon
Viviane Araujo’s empathic UFC debut victory over Talita Bernardo via overhand right-hand knockout, earned her a quick turn-around flyweight bout against the Canadian veteran (19-9) Alexis Davis in UFC 240: Holloway vs. Edgar, within the span of two months.

Brazil’s own Araujo made her name known in the early prelims of UFC 237, taken place in her native country. The Brazilian holds a 7-1 MMA record, her only defeat came in 2017 against Sarah Frota in the first round by knockout.

Araujo went up weight and fought Bernardo at 131 pounds. She usually fights in the strawweight division, but now again, she will fight in a different weight class. This time the Brazilian will fight at 125, coming down from her previous bantamweight bout.

Davis and Araujo are only two years apart, but the older Canadian “Ally-Gator” began her MMA career in 2007, while the Brazilian “Vivi” started back in 2015.

After knocking out Bernardo in her UFC debut, Araujo looked like it doesn’t matter which weight class she fights in – she’s a force to be reckoned with. Though, Davis has been fighting in the UFC since 2013, her noticeable fights came against Liz Carmouche – defeated her twice via decisions.

Max Holloway vs Frankie Edgar will headline as the main event at UFC 240 in Edmonton, meanwhile Cris Cyborg wants to be featured on UFC 240 against Felicia Spencer, after the Canadian amicably called out Cyborg for her next opponent.
