“My coaches watched a lot of Leslie’s fights, and they prepared me to fight someone with her style. A person that comes forward, constant pressure,” Blencowe said. I had some guys at the gym that are a little bit heavier than me come forward as I would punch and kick them.”
Blencowe’s natural fighting stance is orthodox, but at times would switch to southpaw. Normally, she uses the left-handed stance to create angles and throw her punches with power. It’s more of coming back with a second counter attack, she added.
The Australian main focused is on her MMA career and getting a title shot sometime soon. Although, the former professional boxer (4-4) has interest in booking a boxing match.
“What I’m really liking in the long run, I know Cris Cyborg has talked about wanting a boxing fight,” Blencowe said, “so I would like to fight her in Bellator and in the boxing ring. I’ve only been doing combat sports for about 10 years. I’m still fairly new to the scene but I’ve done great things in the boxing and MMA. So, I’m well respected amongst the community in Australia.”
“Angerfist” Blencowe lost the Bellator women’s featherweight championship via split decision to Budd back in 2017, also took place at the WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. She seeks for another title shot whether it’s against Cris Cyborg or Julia Budd.
The main card of Bellator 233 begins at 9 p.m. ET live on Paramount Network at Oklahoma’s WinStar World Casino.
